Jose Ignacio Gomez’s farm is located in Vereda el Naranjal near the town of Buescao in the Nariño department. Jose grew up in a coffee-producing family and has developed a good palate and an eye for good coffee. He grows coffee on six and a half hectares alongside oranges, lemons, and avocados. During the harvest, he, his family and team of trained harvesters handpick the ripe red cherry and process the harvest in their own micro wet mill on the farm.
Jose has built a custom solar dryer on the farm near the wet mill. Three tiers of raised beds are arranged under a plastic roof, which allows light to enter and the wind to control the temperature. As the coffee is harvested its places on the lowest tier and is moved up as it dries and reached the desired moisture levels. Slow and even drying is achieved to create a high-quality complex green coffee.
We selected this coffee together with the team at the backyard bike shop. However, during these circumstances when the shop is closed, we want to offer it to all of you!
The coffee has an intense sweetness with medium acidity and lovely notes of blackberry citrus and caramel.
