Gilcimar and his wife Ana owns 13 hectares of land outside the city of Castelo in the region of Montanhas do Espirito Santo. Production on the farm is small but if very high quality. Gilcimar focuses on Pulped natural processing methods, selective harvesting, precise sorting and drying on raised beds. This enables better control over the process and the results show in the final cup.
This year we were very impressed with the quality and was given the opportunity to purchase the entirety of his specialty production. In this way, we ensure sustainable production and that Gilcimar and his family can continue to improve the production, and infrastructure on the farm.
Sitio Bateia is a complex Brazilian coffee that we purchased with the intention to be brewed as espresso but is also great a full-bodied filter brew. Brewed as espresso we found delicate notes of white peach and grape accompanied by a silky caramel, milk chocolate & hazelnut finish.
