This single origin decaf is a blend of coffees grown by multiple smallholder farmers in the region of Cauca. All coffees are selected based on cup quality and character. The decaffeination happens in Colombia before the coffee goes to export, keeping the profits within the coutry. This allows us to help maintain integrity, quality, and extend our responsible sourcing even for our decaf offering. The coffee is first soaked in a bath of water and and a solvent called “ethyl acetate”, which is naturally derived from fermented sugar cane. After the caffeine is extracted the coffee is removed from its bath and steamed at low pressure to ensure no traces of e.a. are left.
We are proud to present a sustainable and high quality decaf!
